Welcome Back Teachers, for our last nine weeks training!

Explain to us how this grade level training has been beneficial to you with your instruction this year.

Have you incorporated any new ways of using the materials different from what was discussed at trainings?

As always, we love to hear your honest opinions. We have enjoyed spending this time during the trainings with you. Please contact either of us if there is anything you need that will help you in your classrooms.

Thank you for “ALL” that you do for the kids of Madison County!

I found the concept of reviewing the core content and program of studies and crosschecking it with the NCTM standards very interesting. This helps to explain why some children seem to have such difficulty with certain concepts. I think this will enable first grade teachers to teach material that is more developmentally appropriate and stop spending so much time trying to teach concepts that are above their developmental level. I hope to be able to develop the base concepts necessary for students to be more sucessful at higher levels.
Many of the activities that have been introduced have been sucessful in providing enriched content for my students.

We have really gotten so much from these trainings that we have used in our classroom. Although we have mainly discussed math specifically, the applications of what we have learned this year really have applied across all content areas in with our students. The specific math games, ideas, materials have been wonderful, but we have also learned so much about assesment, developmentally appropriate instructional focus and much more. We hope this continues next year and can be expanded to include reading as well. I think we are more familiar/comfortable/knowledgable about our math curriculum than we have ever been. It has been very beneficial to get together with other teachers of the same grade level from other schools to share ideas and develop and recognize our commonality of thinking and philosophy. Thanks!

This instruction has given us a focus on what we need to be teaching our students in math. Going through our Program of Studies and relating our findings to the document that we have now has allowed us to see that a lot of what we are teaching is not developmentally appropriate for our students. We have left these trainings with a lot of materials and activities that allow us to target specific skills needed at this level.

1- This specific training has given us a better idea of the KY Core Content Standards and their relation to the National Standards. As a first grade team we have a better understanding of how we should prioritize instruction.

2- Each of us have used the hands on activities that the math trainings have provided in our classrooms. The activities help give our students a greater base of understanding with everything from number sense to data analysis etc. It is a great way to establish concrete knowledge in our classes.

I have enjoyed learning new activities that will help my students who are a little behind in their math abilities. The hands on activities make the concepts more alive to them.
Thank you !

We have received so many valuable teaching strategies and resources through these trainings this year. We have been able to implement them immediately in our rooms and see the benefits from using more hands on activities. We feel more confident about what is expected of us to be taught county-wide so that all first graders are exposed to the same content appropriate to their developmental levels. All four trainings have been very educational and enjoyable! We feel that the time spent here has not been a waste in any way and look forward to continuing contact next year. We appreciate all the math interventionists who took time away from their students to share research based teaching strategies with us and help us make the materials to be used in our classrooms. Thank you to Madison County BOE for allowing us this opportunity to grow and help our students! Thank you to Krista and Tina for all your time and efforts too!!!

As fairly new teacher, I needed to know how to look at the NCTM standards, POS, and core content. This trainings have made me a better teacher. Thanks to Krista, I now look at assessment in a whole new light. I now see how important assessment is, and what I can gain from it. Before these trainings I would have looked to the book for answers not at the core content, POS, or the NCTM. Thank you Krista!

As for Tina, Thanks for always being so patient. I feel comfortable to ask her anything about technology and she is always willing to help. She has showed me ways to embed technology into my instruction, that by students will benifit from. I would have never used interwrite, turning point, and the internet to create anything until I saw how easy it is to do. Thanks to her--I now create lessons in a whole new way.

Both of these ladies have giving so much of their time this year to help us become better instructors. Thank you BOE for having these two ladies to train us to become the best for our kids.

I want to THANK the Madison BOE for allowing us to have these trainings. They have been AWESOME! Each time I come away with so much--I am afraid I will forget something. I have grown as a teacher because of these trainings. Krista and Tina have given us SO much to use with our kids. I have loved Krista's hands on way of teaching, and discussing the assessment shows me how I can become a better teacher. Tina has created so much and taught me how create lessons with the technology we have. I can not wait to get to class an use the powerpoint bank she has for us on the portal or the clickers. I can go in my class tomorrow and use the hands on activity Krista showed us and the Turning point from the bank to enhance my lesson. Also I can have centers going with the weblinks from the blog to reinforce that concept as well. I would have never found all the stuff Tina has shared with us. These four trainings has show me how all of this really does connect. I look forward to having these trainings next year, hopefully we will. I only wish we could pull in other subjects as well.
